The Hot Water Has Low Pressure

Several factors cause low hot water pressure, including:

  • Clogged pipes of faucets – This happens when there is an accumulation of sediment, calcium deposits, rust, and other debris either in the faucet or plumbing lines.
  • Closed valves – When the valve that controls water flow from the hot water tank to the user is partially closed, the water pressure drops drastically.
  • Leaked or broken pipes – When the course of hot water is interrupted or diverted by leaks and cracks, the water pressure drops. One of the easiest ways to detect leaks or broken pipes is to check for signs of dampness on carpets and walls.

Watch Out for Strange Sounds

Other than the usual hissing sound of running water, these systems should not produce any strange sounds when running. The buildup of sediments underneath the bottom of the water heater tank is one of the most common causes of strange sounds. 

When the water boils and bubbles, the sediments move up and down inside the water heater tank, consequently producing odd sounds. While there are different ways to fix this problem, the best option involves a plumbing and heating expert. 

At times, the reason for the knocking sound inside the water heater may be something different from the buildup of sediments. Given that these tanks carry hot water and that electricity is involved, it is safer to contact a professional plumber for assessment. This is one of the surest ways to avoid accidents or further damages to these units, which may be costly to repair or replace.

Unsteady Water Temperature
